Lachine–Saint-Pierre: a neighbourhood in motion

Lachine–Saint-Pierre is a happening place. In 2003, the City of Montreal launched a project to revitalize the historic neighbourhood in order to rebuild its road infrastructure and beautify its green spaces. Since then, many real estate projects have popped up to accommodate new residents of all ages.

But at Résidence Jean-Placide-Desrosiers, many residents say they have spent all their lives in this neighbourhood. They knew the Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens church, which burned down in 2001. Its presbytery, with its magnificent stone walls, is now part of the residence. The residents like the tranquility of their end of the street and the proximity of Saint-Jacques Street, with its downtown-bound buses. Kirkland Park is a draw for sports enthusiasts with its pool and tennis courts, while the Lachine Canal, just a 10-minute walk away, is perfect for long strolls.

Another feature characteristic of this neighbourhood is its many community and social initiatives. Saint-Pierre market with its fruits and vegetables, the community gardens, neighbourhood festivals and community organizations...together, they represent the desire to create a great environment to live in. The little things that make life happy are all right here.

The ENHARMONIE residences were the first network of fully certified residences in Quebec.
