Discover our conference series on astronomy

Do you want to share your passion for astronomy with your grandchildren? Our new conference series on astronomy starting October 7, 2017, at Résidence Le Mile-End will be just right for you!

Jean Pierre Urbain, who is a resident of Le Mile-End, is a scientific communicator, journalist and author who has been interested in astronomy and space exploration his whole life. His popular conferences are tailored to a large audience, including children. All our residents and their families are invited to join him on this trip to the stars.

All conferences start at 2 p.m. for a two-hour period including a snack. The conferences are as follows:

  • October 7, 2017: Astronomy, a kids play
  • October 21, 2017: Colonizing Mars
  • November 4, 2017: Signs of life on exoplanets
  • November 18, 2017: Shooting stars, asteroids and comets
  • December 2, 2017: The great leap for humanity outside our solar system

Address: Résidence Le Mile-End, 225, rue Maguire, Montréal H2T 0A2 (Laurier metro station, parking on nearby streets).

All visitors (and their grandchildren) are welcome! This conference series is a collaboration with Université populaire, a non-profit organization aiming to contribute to the development of a critical mind by offering free access to knowledge. Upop organizes popular educational activities in bars, cafés and other locations in several neighbourhoods in Montreal.
